OCALICON 2013 Review Process

We received over 170 proposals for OCALICON 2013. Our comprehensive review process helps us develop and offer a high-quality, well-balanced program.

Each proposal is reviewed by three independent reviewers. The three reviewers include one OCALI staff member, one professional from Ohio, and one national reviewer. Reviewers are assigned proposals in their area of interest or expertise.

The final selection process is determined by examining the overall proposal score as well as individual review scores, recommendations, and comments. Additional factors include the level of content (introductory, intermediate, advanced), session type (lecture, poster, panel, hands-on interactive, facilitated discussion), and the overall diversity of topics.

Goal of the Review Process

To develop a comprehensive and balanced conference program that will:

  • Offer high-quality content across the areas of autism spectrum disorders and low-incidence disabilities
  • Appeal to an audience of varied attendees across disciplines and system levels
  • Present current, accurate, and relevant information based in research and/or promising practice
  • Provide systems-wide approaches at the district, regional, state, national, and international level
  • Support improvement of learner outcomes for students and higher quality of life for individuals with ASD and low-incidence disabilities
  • Invite collaboration and networking amongst participants
